Cherry wood-smoked porter beer by Nashville’s Yazoo Brewing Co., grass-grazed Ohio milk, and fistfuls of almonds, cashews, peanuts, and pecans dusted with rosemary, brown sugar, and cayenne. An ice cream your old man might make in his garage.
We love working with like-minded people in the food and drink world, which is how we became friends with Linus and Lila at award-winning craft brewer Yazoo Brewing Co. in Nashville. And how Jeni came to love their high-gravity, cherry-wood smoked porter, Yazoo Sue—a rich and smoky brew that tastes meaty the best way and lends beautiful cherry smoke to this ice cream. As Jeni pondered what to pair with it, she thought of the herbs and spices used in rubs. Gathering every nut in our kitchen, she coated them in rosemary, brown sugar, and cayenne, and baked them—creating a flavor as satisfying as a cold beer and a basket of savory bar nuts.
